Castiglione’s Virtual Flowers

This is one of the most interesting projects that I have done these years.

The most challenging part is not only the modelling of plants and flowers under a tight schedule, but also to texture them in a SIMILAR way as what have been presented in the original Chinese paintings of this artist, instead of being as Realistic as what exists in our lives, which I am much more familiar with.

Unity 5 works quite fine on calculating realistic materials with its new shader, the standard one, but how to make it look a little bit “flat” as an ancient painting while still keeping this realistic feature, this was and will still be, one interesting topic in my following projects.

And how to optimise these high-polygon models to a reasonable size to make an App which could run smoothly on the mobile phones, is another important concern even before modelling started, which made this project that important.
